This is an Annual summer festival in Kiso Fukushima held on July 22nd and 23rd.
On the 2nd day, after the Mikoshi is carried through the town, it is rolled, pitched, and thrashed to the ground by the carriers until it gets broken to pieces.
Breaking the Mikoshi is unusual in Japan, it is called a "strange festival")
The Mikoshi is about 400kg and they roll it calling "So-suke!" "Ko-suke!"
which has a tremendous impact.
Come and see the "strange festival" in Kiso!
