The great writer, Toson Shimazaki is well known for novels such as “Before the Dawn”. This is the house that his sister married into, becoming the model for the old family in his novel “The Family”. Takase was one of the important Samurai in the Edo period, and the family was making medicine called Kioumaru.
Documents and objects relating to Toson Shimazaki and the medecine are exhibited.
Now the descendant of Toson lives in this house and welcomes tourists stopping by.
