LAKE SHIZENKO
Otaki-village is located in the deep mountains. At the foot of the sacred Mt. Ontake, you will find lake Shizenko at the upper stream of Otaki river. Shizenko is a lake which was formed by a natural earthen dam after a large earthquake in 1984. It was a beautiful valley deep in the forest before the earthquake. Withered, skeletal trees stand in the lake's waters, creating a scene of serenity and sacredness.
